Pictured: Raquel Guglielmette (Idaho), Noel Gill (Oregon), Rhonda Hue (Washington) and Joe Diehl (AHMA Northwest). Your regional AHMA met with six of our region's Congresspersons and/or their staff, in Washington DC on Tuesday, March 10! We thanked them for adding $2 billion to cover 2009 HAP contracts; and adding $2.6 billion to cover LIHTC funding issues - in their recent passage of the Economic Stimulus Package. We also asked them for legislative changes that will facilitate better coordination between housing programs and agencies, provide owners with exit tax relief, and make changes to the "student rule" so that low-income residents can improve their lives without losing their housing - among other things!
